It’s getting closer…

Yes! It’s finally happening…or at least it’s getting closer.

I know, I can see you scratching your head right now wondering what the heck has she done now? Well, what I’ve done is finally get my new website up and running properly! Yes, little olde me, who has zero html code training and sometimes is left staring at the screen with drool running down her chin, figured it all out by herself!

…well, not entirely by herself, Google did help with which pages I needed to hit to get the information to make these changes. But I did have to install, and do all the research in order for it to work properly. I also had to take a couple deep breaths and hope I didn’t really screw things up when the directions told me to erase html data on my old blogs… It’s like jumping out of a plane and you’re not sure your parachute will function properly.

Okay, back to the new website running properly. I made the decision at the first of the year to roll all my blogs, and my static website into one nice neat package, of course I really didn’t have any idea how I was going to accomplish this on a very tight budget. So I started doing some research, and found that I needed a hosting site to host my site for my new wordpress.org page. Well, within that research I was also able to find that said hosting company was able to direct me to a glorious site, mojo marketplace, that had beautiful templates I could purchase and just add in my own data.

I had them upload the new template for me and went to work, and work, and work, and work…yeah, you get the point, it was a lot of tedious work. I first had to get my page set up with proper pages/title/categories, then I had the joy of transferring over all 225+ posts from both of my blogger accounts (Lisa L Wiedmeier/Lisa’s Scribbles). And with Dani’s help, we reformatted and fixed most (I say most because both our eyes were crossed at the end and we just gave up) the old imported posts.

You’d think it was over then, but it wasn’t. I pin a lot to Pinterest from my blogs, that meant a lot of data had to have their links redirected to the new site, and to the proper postings. Nothing is worse than clicking on a pin to find that it leads you to the home page of the website, not the post, or to no place at all. But I conquered it! All my pins on Pinterest, that were linked to my blogs, are being redirected to the proper post on my new site. Whew!

You have no idea what an accomplishment that was, seriously, I’ve got a headache from all the research…and to think that came about because I accidentally deleted an html code and didn’t write it down…

And now…and now my bright shiny new site is functioning like it should. If a new fan, or old, types in one of my old addresses like: lisawiedmeier.blogspot.com, or lisasscribbles.com, it’ll bring them to my new site licky split! Yes, I said licky split! At least I think that’s how you spell it anyway…
