Meridian Life Magazine – Yup I’m in it!

It’s really official now… I’m in the Meridian Life Magazine under “local authors”. How cool is that?

Now, it’s not like I didn’t know this was coming. After all they did have to interview me to write this article, and I did have to sorta approve it–sorta.  I’ve been anxiously awaiting its official release so I could share it with all of you… all 35,000 + residents/business owners who will see this magazine by the end of February!

Since I know it’s a bit difficult to read the article through the picture, I’m laying out the meat of the interview for your enjoyment.

“I never thought about writing before,” says found adult fantasy fiction author Lisa Wiedmeier. In fact, the talented writer is dyslexic. “But what I lack in English, I make up for in creativity.” When she opened the floodgates of that creativity it took her only six months to write the first three books of her first series–and to read 45 other books at the same time. It’s an impressive tally that also demonstrates a lot of discipline. It takes her six to eight weeks on average to write a book.

Thus Wiedmeier vaulted from using writing as a helpful, therapeutic tool straight into writing the Timeless Series and publishing her first novel in that series in mid-July. Done with that series, she’s working on the next one, tentatively titled The Gate and scheduled for production late fall 2012. This series begins with the story of a teen moving to Ireland with her family and discovering “a world filled with deception, magic, friendship and betrayal.” It’s the kind of book that young people can be engrossed by and that imaginative writes love to write.

Wiedmeier begins her novel, Cheyenne, with a quote of her devising. “If I could have looked into the future to see what I would have become, I wouldn’t have become the person I was always meant to be.” The quote could be used to describe the author’s life as well. Self-discovery through experiences is Wiedmeier’s theme, and it lends itself perfectly to the young adult fantasy fiction market that she specializes in.

Self-discovery has other perks too. Wiedmeier often visits a communal website for authors hosted by the publishing giant Harper Collins. The site, called Authonomy, has forums for writers of different genres from al around the world. “I have made so many friends,” say’s Wiedmeier. As any of her characters could tell you, it’s easy making friends when you know who you really are.
